William Henry West was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 9, 1937 to Helen and William Lawrence West. He passed away on June 24, 2020. He is survived by Nancy, their children Will, Lisa, and Ashley, and grandchildren Amelia, Brook, Sarah, and Kala. Bill graduated from University School, Yale University, and Harvard Law School. He was a partner at Thompson, Hine & Flory in the practice of corporate law. Bill loved Yale and his ongoing connections to it, his participation in the Court of Nisi Prius, lazy days fishing and hiking at the Laurel River Club in West Virginia, walks with family dogs, cross-country skiing, and late afternoon ocean swims in Rhode Island. Bill was a voracious reader and lover of history, a lifelong learner and traveler. St. Paul’s Men’s Spirituality Group was an important part of his life. He also enjoyed playing squash, tennis, football, and jogging. Above all, he loved his family and friends. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to the West Family Scholarship Fund, Yale University, P.O.
