Robinson Buck

Robinson (Rob) Wolcott Buck, 86, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on the morning of December 17, 2022. He is survived by his wife Clara, son Dan, daughter Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Jack, and Daniel.

Rob was born on April 24, 1936, to Mildred (Weaver) and Henry Buck in Hartford, CT. Rob grew up in Wethersfield and was a lifelong resident. After graduating with a degree in engineering from Yale University, Rob pursued his master’s degree in Engineering at Georgia Tech where he met the love of his life in Atlanta, Clara McGlamory. Returning to Connecticut, Rob became a partner in the consulting engineering firm, Buck and Buck Engineers, a firm his grandfather Henry Robinson Buck founded in Hartford in the early 1900’s. Rob was a managing partner at Buck and Buck for over 40 years.

Rob had many passions that he pursued vigorously throughout his life. He had a beautiful singing voice and was a gifted musician. From his days as the pitchpipe with the Whiffenpoofs at Yale to his decades-long tenure as a devoted member of the Center Church choir to the many countless sing-alongs around the piano with friends and family, Rob truly loved to share his musical talents with others. Rob also loved boating and sailing. He especially enjoyed racing his 505 sailboat on weekends around Niantic Bay. Whether it was sailing, singing with others, playing the piano, working around the house and yard with Clara, or making beautiful furniture in his shop, Rob was always busy and rarely stopped, except perhaps to complete the morning crossword. However, what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family. He was so proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Rob lived a very full life and will be missed dearly.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday (January 2nd) at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday (January 3rd) at Center Church of Hartford, 60 Gold St., Hartford. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the Church. A private burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
