James P. Gregory II, MD

James Parker Gregory II, MD, age 86, formerly from Louisville Kentucky passed away on September 19th, 2023 in Richmond Virginia. He was a graduate and Valedictorian of Louisville County Day school in 1955 and graduate from Yale University where he received his undergraduate degree and received his Medical Degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. Most of all he was a very proud physician who had a great bedside manner and rapport with his patients. He practiced medicine as in internist for over 25 years at St. Thomas medical center in Nashville Tennessee and continued as a consultant for medical disability claims till the age of 82.

He was a talented musician and member of the Yale Glee Club and Barber shop singing group in Nashville. His family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues loved his sense of humor and wide range of knowledge. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Gross Gregory, brothers Arthur “Henry” Gregory and William Kendrick “Wick” Gregory. He is survived by his first wife Joan Bortz, three children Tracy G. Bradford, Heather A. Taylor and James “Jimmy” P. Gregory III, along with grandchildren Joey and Nicole Bradford, Jake, Dylan and Cole Taylor, Parker and William Gregory and Great Grandchild Jovi Taylor and his loving companion Dotty Tucker. The family would like to extend our thanks to all who shared their life with him. May his memories live on in all of us. A memorial service will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Nashville Tennessee (date TBD). If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association (AHA).
