This is where we’ll post news of our class events, including lunches, tailgates, mini-reunions and the like. Send us your news!
11/08/22 From the Griffiths: “Good time had at Brown game with a 69 to 17win! Semples, Griffiths, Greenbergs & DePaul from’59. Groups from ‘58 and even some Brown and Cornell in attendance. Wraps up the tailgates for this year as this coming weekend against Princeton we’ll all be in the Alumni Tent. Hope to see you there!”
9/01/22 From the Griffiths: It’s September and that time again — get ready for some football🏈!!
Once again the Griffiths will be hosting pre-game tailgating so look at your schedules and we hope to see you there. Home games start October 1 vs Howard, then October 8 vs Dartmouth, October 15 vs Bucknell, November 5 vs Brown and finishing up with Princeton on November 12. All games start at noon so tailgating will be up and running from 9:30 am onwards. Again the tailgate (with small tent this year!) will be in Lot F, the Football Association lot. General parking will be in Lot D on Central Ave for $10 fee, opening up at 9am.
Please look at your schedules and plan to support those Bulldogs — go Blue!!!
April 30, 2022 (posted May 4)
It’s been an exciting week for the Bulldogs: On Saturday, the men’s lacrosse team defeated Harvard 17–16 in overtime, earning a share of the Ivy League championship and a berth in the Ivy Tournament this weekend. And in football, Yale senior and two-time All-Ivy League safety Rodney Thomas II had his name called in the 2022 NFL Draft as he was selected in the seventh round by the Indianapolis Colts. Find more stories, game schedules, and information at the Yale Bulldogs website. |

Don’t forget The Game this coming Saturday, November 20, 2021. 12 noon kickoff!
Unfortunately, the Alumni Tent will not be open this year, so hope all those planning to come to the Game will come to Lot F where our own class tailgate will take place starting at 10 am. Lots of goodies to be had or bring what you like, but hope to see a lot of you before the game. And of course, post-game another gathering at the Athertons 223 Bradley St, New Haven. Don’t forget to park in Lot D and walk across Central Ave to Lot F.
Let’s cheer Yale on to another win against Harvard! 🏈

Great day for a tailgate and a win over Penn 42 to 28! We were even given an up front performance by the Precision Marching Band!
First Ivy League game this season: Yale vs. Cornell
Boola boola! The first football game for season 2021 starts this Saturday, September 18, Yale vs Holy Cross – and the tailgating will also start again!
Unfortunately, Lot B, where we always met, does not exist any more due to the building of a new lacrosse/soccer field house, which is quite beautiful.
So now for the new procedure this year. Charlie and Bobbi Griffith will continue to sponsor the tailgates but the tailgate set up will be in Lot F, the Football Association parking lot. Only Football Association members can park there, so you, the loyal tailgate and football attendees, will need to park in Lot D on Central Ave and walk up to Lot F for the pre-game festivities. Luckily, Lot F is very close to the stadium. We’ll be ready to go at 10am as the kick-off for the game is at 12 noon.

Handsome Dan XIX AKA Kingman
Mark your calendars as the following weekend, September 25. We will be playing Cornell and the two October games are scheduled for October 23 and 30. Then we will celebrate “The Game” on November 20!
Sorry for the loss of our beloved Lot B, but let’s look forward to a new year, a new beginning — Go Yale!
Tailgates and The Game Invite
We’ve had great turnouts for home games and great wins too!
Don’t forget that after the Yale Harvard game on November 23 an open invite to class at home of the Athertons, 223 Bradley Street!

The photos directly above are from the most recent tailgate, in Parking Lot B, on Saturday, October 31. In keeping with the mood of the day, all who attended were asked to don some type of Halloween attire! Go Yale!
Charlie and Bobbie Griffith host class of 1959 tailgates before the first four home football games in Parking Lot B Special, adjacent to Coxe Cage.
The Harvard-Yale game on November 21 starts at 2:30pm. The alumni tent will not open until 12 noon, so Charlie and Barbara will host a Class of 1959 breakfast tailgate in lot B from 10 am on — a great way to get together with friends and classmates before the main event!
See you at the Bowl!
